Harvard CBE is a 501(c)(3) federal non-profit that provides the Harvard undergraduate student body with the opportunity to work with real clients on real problems, with focus areas in the life sciences. CBE is a student-run strategy consulting organization that was originally founded in 2008 as a small group that worked with local startups in the Boston area on their pressing business strategy problems. Starting in 2018, Harvard CBE began operating with the same business model as it currently has, namely sourcing large clients (including Google, Amazon, Boeing, Roche, etc.) to work on their crucial strategy issues.


Scholarship Eligibility Requirements:

  • Boston Public School Senior
  • High school diploma, GED, or certificate of completion prior to Fall 2024
  • Accepted to any accredited college, university, or professional trade school for 2024-2025 enrollment. 
  • Demonstrable financial need to cover tuition, fees, student housing costs
  • Plans on studying in one of these areas:

1. Life Sciences (including but not limited to biology, genetics, pre-med, biochemistry)
  2. Technology
  3. Sustainability
  4. Environment


Any student who fits the above criteria is encouraged to apply regardless of citizenship status


Selection Criteria: Applicants will be evaluated based on their character, and their proficiency or potential proficiency in their chosen fields of study. Applicants that have demonstrated leadership skills and worked to better their communities, or to support charitable causes through volunteer service, will also be given key consideration. Applicants will also be required to respond to an essay prompt as part of the application process that will be used as part of the selection process.  uAspire and Harvard CBE will determine recipients of the scholarship funds based on the previously stated criteria.

The winners will receive a $3,250.00 scholarship.


Financial Considerations: Financial need will be a key consideration when determining recipients of the scholarship. The mission of WinnCompanies' WinningEdge Scholarship Program, a subsidiary of the WinnCares initiative, is to provide financial assistance to high school seniors, high school graduates, GED holders, and Certificate of Completion holders who are residents or children/legal dependents of employees of WinnCompanies and its affiliates. Applicants must plan to enroll or are currently enrolled at a post-secondary educational institution. For the 2024-2025 scholarship year, scholarships will range from $1,000-$2,000.

Eligibility


 

  • Resident in good standing at a WinnResidential managed community OR the child or legal dependent of an individual that has been employed by WinnResidential, WinnDevelopment, or WinnResidential Military Housing Services for at least one (1) full year prior to the application due date.
     
  • High school diploma, GED, or certificate of completion prior to Fall 2024.
     
  • Accepted to an accredited college, university, or professional trade school for 2024-2025 enrollment.
     
  • College juniors must indicate their declared major.
     
  • Demonstrable financial need to cover tuition, fees, student housing costs.


 *The children or dependents of executives at WinnCompanies with the title of Vice President or above are not eligible for these awards. Further, the employees and relatives of employees at WinnCompanies affiliates, HUD, or any other government agency that regulates WinnCompanies apartment communities or military bases are ineligible for these awards.


Selection Criteria

Applicants will be evaluated based on their academic performance, character, and their proficiency or potential proficiency in their chosen fields of study. Applicants pursuing careers in real estate, especially property management, will be given key consideration. Applicants that have worked to better their communities, or to support charitable causes through volunteer service, will also be given key consideration. All personal or identifying information about an applicant’s connection to WinnCompanies will be redacted for a volunteer committee of WinnCompanies employees to assist with applicant evaluations. uAspire will determine recipients of the scholarship funds based on the previously stated criteria.

Notification Process

 All applicants can expect to be notified via email about the status of their application by the first week of June.

The exact number of scholarships and the total amount of money to be awarded in 2024 will be determined during the selection process, at the discretion of WinnCompanies. Financial need will be a key consideration when determining individual amounts. It is therefore critically important that applicants complete a 2024-2025 FAFSA, and submit their 2024 - 2025 FAFSA Submission Summary to verify their Student Aid Index (SAI). Applicants entering their first year of postsecondary education will be eligible to enroll in free college affordability advising services from uAspire courtesy of WinnCompanies.
